One of the foremost authorities on yoga in India and internationally. She's also an award-winning author, a Guinness World Record holder, and a proud recipient of the prestigious “Yoga Kalaimamani Award.” 

Dr. Kavita began practicing yoga at the age of 13 and has remained committed to this lifestyle for the past 20 years. She developed her own style of yoga called “Thottil Yoga” otherwise known as Aerial Yoga—it's practiced while hanging from ropes or straps with no external support from any other equipment or props.


A two-time Guinness World Record holder and a proud recipient of the prestigious “Yoga Kalaimaamani Award'', Dr Moahan’s distinguished achievements in the field of yoga, her publications, research and her participation in all aspects of the promotion of this art form have established her as one of the highly regarded and widely known professionals in this discipline.

Envisioning her life around the motto ‘Anybody can breathe therefore Anybody can practice yoga’, she has made it her life’s mission to explore the potential of yoga as a holistic approach to health and well-being.

In the year 2012 she moved back to India where she practiced yoga under guruji the great Dr. Asana Andiappan. Rekindled with the love for Yoga she traveled the length and breadth of the country, from Himalaya to Rishikesh to study and understand the different styles, aspects of Yoga, focusing especially on how Yoga can help in alleviating pain from the human body.

For the past five years Dr Kavitha has been engaged in offering complementary therapy to cancer patients free of cost. She uses yoga as a means to help affected people to relax and cope with tiredness (fatigue), stress, anxiety and depression. Her methods have helped patients alleviate pain and thereby lift their mood, enhancing their overall well-being. Several patients have claimed that her sessions have helped them tremendously in their road to recovery.

Dr Kavitha has also authored a book on this topic titled “Traditional Aerial Yoga” which is available on Amazon.

Traditional Aerial Yoga by Dr. Kavitha Moahan provides the beginners with absolutely easy to follow directions. For practitioners, aerial yoga/thottil provides a special space to focus on strength, balance, endurance, and courage. Although the prospect of movement can seem infinite, it can be challenging for teachers and home practitioners to walk the line between healthy and demanding movement.
